FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PROJECT: PETITION TO KICK OFF SATURDAY, MAY 17

Jefferson, GA (May 12th, 2008) – James P. Mason, a former Marine from Jackson County, and the only independent Congressional candidate running for the US House of Representatives from the 10th Congressional District of Georgia, will be touring the 10th District May 17-18 and May 24-25. During his tour, Mr. Mason and his supporters will collect petition signatures in order to secure a spot on the general election ballot Nov 4.

James P. Mason needs 17,079 signatures (5% of the 10th District’s registered voters) by July 8, 2008. This goal is achievable with the help of citizens interested in a healthy, vibrant democracy. Citizens of the 10th District who sign this petition are not promising to vote for James P. Mason, but are simply granting him the right to run.

Mr. Mason requests the assistance of 10th District citizens, regardless of party affiliation, in completing any of the four following tasks:

1) Meet Mr. Mason at your nearest tour stop and sign his petition.

2) Email promote@jamespmason.com and request the print files for [word deleted] petition forms (legal size – front and back). Print these forms, get them signed and notarized, and mail them to the James P. Mason for Congress Committee using the address below.

3) Meet Mr. Mason at your nearest stop (below) on Saturday and sign his petition. Then, take one or more petitions (15 signatures per petition), along with optional promotional gear. Go out and collect signatures on his behalf. Come back next week to the same location at the same time, as listed below. Mr. Mason will have a notary public available to sign off on the signatures you collected. Feel free to take more petitions if you’d like.

4) Meet Mr. Mason at your nearest tour stop and sign his petition. Then, take one or more petitions (15 signatures per petition), along with a self-addressed stamp envelope and optional promotional gear, and go out and collect signatures on his behalf. Simply get these sheets notarized and mail them back to the James P. Mason for Congress Committee by June 15th at the following address:

Hey James,
Glad to do it. Hopefully it will help get the word out.

I’ll also email you directly as I’d love to get connected with you and see if we can get you connected with other resources that might be helpful. I know how much work the ballot access process is.

Sincerely,
Mike Pickering
